Step Seven
On you device, locate the Absinthe icon and press it to complete your jailbreak. It could be on any homescreen.

If the server is down and you get an Error establishing a database connection message then tap the Settings icon on your springboard and turn on VPN.

Untethered Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 for Non-A5 Devices Has Been Released!

Pod2g's untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, and iPad 1, has been released, according the iPhone Dev-Team.

A few days ago, @pod2g gave the untether to both the iPhone devteam and the chronic devteam. We've put it into redsn0w 0.9.10 and PwnageTool, and the chronic devteam put it into a Cydia package (the same set of exploits is in all three).

Basics:
● The untether is for iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone3GS, iPhone4, iPhone4-CDMA, iPad1, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G
● If you have one of those devices and are not on 5.0.1 yet, update now! The SHSH window is still open for 5.0.1 If you unlock via ultrasn0w or gevey, make sure you only get to 5.0.1 via a custom IPSW! See the guides at places like iClarified.com if you don't know how. Once you're at 5.0.1, use the latest redsn0w 0.9.10 to both jailbreak and untether.
● If you're already at 5.0.1 with a tethered jailbreak, you have two choices: either run redsn0w 0.9.10 over your current jailbreak (deselect "Install Cydia" if you do that), or install the Cydia package prepared by the chronic devteam. The patches are the same regardless of which you choose.
● Some of you are using a hybrid 5.0/5.0.1 configuration. If so, do not attempt to install this untether over that setup! You will most likely get into a reboot cycle. Do a sync and fresh restore to 5.0.1 then install the jailbreak + untether.

You can download the new release of RedSn0w Windows from here and Mac here. We'll be posting instructions on how to perform the untethered jailbreak below.

*Don't forget to give pod2g and the Dev-Teams a big thank you!
** We'd also appreciate if those who speak different languages could submit translations to help those who have difficulty with English.

Microsoft Office for iPad and iPhone [Coming Soon]

The iPad is wonderful and all that, but it is not without its flaws and weaknesses many of which I expect Apple will address with the next incarnation of the tablet device. However, for those looking to use the current generation iPad as a mobile business tool, Microsoft may be the hero with Docs.

Microsoft and Apple are the developers of three of the most popular operating systems in the world (Windows, iOS & Mac OS X) powering their powers laptops, tablets and phones.
of course nothing of the various iWork for iPad apps can be compared to the real office productivity software like the Microsoft Office 2010, and then the question is why I even have an iPad then. Why not simply use the more robust, more functional, more capable Windows 7 notebook, and stick with Office 2010? the answer of course will be  The iPad weighs about a third of what my notebook weighs, is only about a quarter of the thickness, has four to five times the battery life.

the good news is that according to sources Microsoft is now working on an Apple’s tablet version of their popular Microsoft Office software suite, and maybe in a few days we will use that app.

That means there will be a armistice between the 2 tech against Apple and Microsoft ,and maybe we will see duplicate masterpieces tablets in the future.

iPad 3 Coming in March and iPhone 5 Gets 4-Inch Screen?

iLounge claimed to gain some news from a 'most reliable source' - iPad 3 will be launch on next March  with slightly thicker design, and the next iPhone will have a 4-inch display but abandon the current design with the annoying battery issue.

iPad

The source indicates that the iPad 3 is planned to launch in March and that it will be approximately 0.7 mm thicker than the iPad 2 due to the need to incorporate a dual light bar system for the higher-resolution display. The iPad 2 currently checks in 8.8 mm thick, which would make the iPad 3 approximately 8% thicker than the iPad 2 but still substantially thinner than the 13.4 mm original iPad.

iPhone

iLounge's source claims that the next-generation will not resemble the teardrop "iPhone 5" design that circulated ahead of the iPhone 4S introduction last month. The next iPhone is, however, said to carry a 4-inch display (up from 3.5 inches in the current iPhone) and be 8 mm longer than the current form factor. Apple is said to be targeting a summer launch for the device, which would mark a short interval from the iPhone 4S launch last month. And this one is said to have kept LTE-ready battery drain in mind.

MacBook Pro

The source indicates that 2012 will indeed see the launch of a thinner MacBook Pro form factor, barring any last-minute problems. We've been hearing for some time that Apple has been finishing up work on just such a redesign, although the company did sneak in one last minor refresh using the current form factor just last month. Recent reports have claimed that an ultra-thin 15" Mac notebook, whether it be a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, is on target for a March launch with small volumes of components already making their way through the supply chain.

The battery is really an issue for iPhone ...

iOS 5.0.1 Released Fails to Fix Battery Issues

Apple released iOS 5.0.1 but failed to fix battery issues for many iPhone 4S owners, according to Apple support forums.

● Updated about 1.5 hours ago, battery has drained 20% since then with no usage! This is awful!
● Upgraded to 5.0.1 this morning. Still draining at the exact same rate. Unplugged with a full charge 2 1/2 hours ago, and already down to 80% with light usage. Just lost 2% during a 15 minute shower. I see no difference at all.
● New update is no help at all. I opened the safari and lost 2 % just by opening the safari browser...This really *****
● No change for me either. Battery drain on my 4S remains after upgrading to 5.0.1! :-/

9to5Mac did a poll of its users and found that 61.7% of those having battery issues reported that iOS 5.0.1 did not solve the problem.

Meanwhile others are reporting new issues with the firmware such as not being able to download apps over the air and incoming calls and texts that don't display the contact name as saved in the address book.

Let us know if you are experiencing any of these issues or others in the comments.

Crack Siri to Make It Work With Any Device

Apple News

Developers have cracked Siri's security protocols which will make it possible to use the assistant on any device including the iPad or even Android smartphones, according to Applidium.

Here's some of what they discovered:

The iPhone 4S really sends raw audio data. It's compressed using the Speex audio codec, which makes sense as it's a codec specifically tailored for VoIP. The iPhone 4S sends identifiers everywhere. So if you want to use Siri on another device, you still need the identifier of at least one iPhone 4S. Of course we're not publishing ours, but it's very easy to retrieve one using the tools we've written. Of course Apple could blacklist an identifier, but as long as you're keeping it for personal use, that should be alright!

The protocol is actually very, very chatty. Your iPhone sends a tons of things to Apple's servers. And those servers reply an incredible amount of informations. For example, when you're using text-to-speech, Apple's server even reply a confidence score and the timestamp of each word.

Applidium has released the tools they wrote to help them understand the protocol. If you know what you're doing the tools should be enough to help you write a Siri-enabled application.
